“Don & Marge Fera” von Bob Magill ist eines der besten Motorrad-Bilder aller Zeiten. Das Paar wirkt so zeitlos, dabei stammt diese Aufnahme aus den 1940er Jahren!
Bob Magill (1917-2005) gilt mittlerweile als legendärer Motorrad-Fotograf und seine Fotos aus den 1940er bis 1950er Jahren besitzen allmählich Ikonen-Status. Gefunden habe ich diese Aufnahme auf der sehr empfehlenswerten Seite THE SELVEDGE YARD, deren Inhalt ihr Schöpfer – JP – am besten selbst beschreibt: „THE SELVEDGE YARD is a website that celebrates cultural icons in the world of motorcycles, muscle cars, rock & roll, cinema, pin-up beauties, kustom kulture, Americana, photography, art, design, menswear, style, literature, and adventure.“

JP hat nicht nur ein Gefühl für starke Bilder, er kann auch beschreiben, was das Besondere an ihnen ist. Und so ist der Kommentar zu den Bob Magill-Bildern auf THE SELVEDGE YARD absolut zutreffend: „These guys (Eh-hem… and gal) are cool because they’re not tryin’ to be – they’re simply doin’ what they love to do. Riding. These epic shots taken back in the 1940s & ’50s perfectly show the natural, raw beauty of motorcycling in its purist form.
