Die Fotografin Kristina Fender aus Madrid ist ein Phänomen in der europäischen Custombike-Szene: Sie ist zweifelsfrei eine Frau und interessiert sich dennoch ernsthaft für Motorcycle Culture!
Die richtigen Bikes, die richtigen Haare, die richtigen Tatoos: Natürlich ist die ganze Hipster-Biker-Szenerie zurzeit – September 2012 – irgendwie ganz groß in Mode und wirkt oftmals auch sehr aufgesetzt. Aber schließlich ist Kristina Fender im Hauptberuf Modefotografin, und so passt es eben. Vielleicht liegt die Stilsicherheit und das Besondere ihrer Bilder auch an ihrer Leidenschaft für Kinder-Fotografie. Denn die meisten der Motorcycle-Boys sind ja, trotz Rauschebart oder Ganzkörper-Tattoos, große Kindsköpfe.

Oje, die Fotografin ist leider im Sommer 2020 verstorben! Hier der Nachruf von Rivaval Cycles: „The moto community lost one of our own last week. Kristina Fender was a photographer who rode a motorcycle, or more accurately: a biker behind the lens. She took starkly candid and unflinching photos capturing the early days of the resurgence of alternative motorcycle culture. She documented the birth of Wheels and Waves when it was just a rag-tag gathering of friends and like-minded enthusiasts. She was a close ally of the Spanish renegades, El Solitario – her photography capturing the joy and recklessness of their adventures. Kristina’s images are as iconic to our generation as Danny Lyon’s were to his. Kristina passed away while doing the very thing she loved most. She will be fondly remembered for her fire and her humor. Her photos and her legacy will live on as an integral part of a great moment in motorcycling history.“
